The existing media communication models were developed with an understanding that the communication was being done between humans and hence do not capture some of the essential characteristics of the AI systems. This paper proposes the D-ACT Model (Dynamic-Agentic Communication Theory), which is a holistic and dynamic structure, that changes the essence of communication from human to AI entities. As with the D-ACT Model’s conceptual foundations, concepts from classical communication theory were incorporated as well as ideas from Human-Computer Interaction and media ecology; the D-ACT Model stream is situated positioning into an AI as an active participant into the reciprocal communication process. Introducing the D-ACT Model as an updated framework to fill the gap in the traditionally humanistic-centered communication theory gives the article its purpose and reason to be a valuable resource for researchers.
